Preparing Our Lessons

We met today for our weekly meeting. Everyone shared what lessons plans they had so far. Pam will divide the children into three groups regardless of age depending on their ability. Pam and Josh have the Beginners, Diane and I will have the intermediate and Randy and Cathie will have the advanced group.
It seems as if each group can use the ideas from each other but really need to make their own plans. I even was awake last night thinking of ideas. I don't know if I am getting anxious or not yet. Maybe a little overwhelmed and need to prioritize. I still have my responsibilities in the classroom where I work, even though the children are finished. There is a lot to do because we have to take down the whole room because it is used for summer Bible camp. I guess I just have to concentrate on the job at hand first and then go "gung-ho" into lessons for Poland.
I just want to do the best I can for these children.
I wonder what they will think and how they will respond to us. Time will tell.

I can't believe we are just a little over a month away from our trip. We have been working hard to plan our English sessions and fun activities. I am finally getting the hang of writing on this blog. It's a first for me so bear with me.
It's interesting to think about going to another country to teach the language I have been speaking all my life. I hope to pick up some Polish too. Diane, one of the other team members and I have been trying to learn some Polish, but we find it very difficult. Maybe the kids can teach us too!

The other team members will also be posting so you will be able to get different perspectives on not only our teaching methods, but also how we can bring Jesus Christ into their lives.

Hang on...the ride is just beginning!

Team Members

I would like to introduce who will be on this years team.
Pam Moga is the coordinator of the team and has been on many mission trips
Joshua Moga, Pam's son who has also been on the team.
and rookies...
Diane Barbret
Randy Markham
Cathie Born-Markham
daughter Emma Markham
and me...Judy Peters.

The Moga's and Markum's all go to Wheatland Salem Methodist church. Diane and I go to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church...all in Naperville, IL. It is nice when Christian faiths come together for a common cause. It makes me smile to think that YES! We are all God's children!

I spent a lot of time this weekend looking for 55 white cotton pillowcases. I thought I could find them a dollar store, but no luck. The cheapest I could find was $5.00 apiece...well over our budget. I have now looked at eBay and other places online. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know. The time is getting closer to our trip.

Less Than a Month Away!

I just realized how quickly this trip is coming up. It's less than a month away!!

Our team met yesterday and discussed English lesson plans. So many ideas, and so much excitement flew around the room. We just have to gather up all the information and decide which ideas would be good for each group. I am going to put all the lesson plans on index cards so I can rotate lessons in a pinch, depending on how interested the children are in a particular theme.
I am wondering if their interests are going to be the same as the children in the U.S.

I picked up some small prizes for the kids. It was fun to be able to pick out items I thought would be different for them.

I guess I have to go around shopping and look for cheap white pillow cases the kids can tie-dye and then use them for autographs so they can remember their friends. If you have any leads...let me know!!
